From: Allan Peterson Subject: Tempe thank you Date: Tue, 4 Feb 1997 04:38:13 +0000 Hammerzonas, Well I know all of us wish that we'd gone 3-1 instead of the opposite day one, and we of course woulda liked to have beaten Flagstaff in the final game Sunday, but hey, we ran outta gas. For those of you whom I might of been beastly to, I apologize a little; we all agree I get out of hand on occasion. Generally though I feel pretty good about everything. We showed some grit. We never gave up. And I get the distinct impression that we know what we are doing now. I'd like to make a special plea for each and everyone who was there to thank Al Lighton for getting us into this tourney. If it wasn't for his good communication and spirit, I don't think we would have gone. I also hope you all noticed that he not only did his usual hold us together dance, he also played better than I think he ever has, busting his ass every point I watched him play. Thanks Al. For those of you who didn't stay to the bitter end to watch each and every final, UCSD won the B pool, crushing Chicago 17-11 or 12. The A pool finals were boring by comparison, with Dolomite scoring a surprisingly easy romp win over what I though was a strong Seattle based team. Terrapin, a LA/SB fun team, won the losers bracket of the A pool, after getting dumped into the L-bracket by losing a game of scissors-paper-rock. (If you know how to spell that damn word I just spent ten minutes trying to find in the dictionary, please E-mail me. A beer to the first one who does) And good old Flagstaff won an epic 17-16 game over the Vermont reunion team. The final point, set up after a tremendous catch of a huck by a UVM player, was scored only after an errant Flagstaff throw was gobbled up by a heads up Flagstaff player who then threw the winner. It was generally a better game than the other finals. Well enough of this maudlin crap. See you out there. Allan
